Our volunteer-run coffee shop is at the heart of our community, serving up delicious drinks and treats while helping to fund the maintenance of St John’s Church. Whether you’re a coffee lover, a budding baker, or just someone who enjoys lending a hand, we’d love for you to get involved!
Time Commitment
We understand that everyone has different schedules, so we offer flexible time commitments for both baristas and bakers:
Baristas: You can volunteer for a half-day Saturday shift whenever it suits you – it’s as flexible as you need! You can come in occasionally, or if you love it, you can commit to more shifts. It’s all about what works for you.
Bakers: Want to bake every week, or just help out when you can? It’s up to you! Bakers can arrange their shifts through our dedicated WhatsApp group. Simply put yourself forward during the week before the coffee shop opens that Saturday, and you’re all set!
We aim to make volunteering easy and enjoyable, no matter how much time you have to give!
Brew for a Cause
Are you a coffee enthusiast? Do you love the idea of creating the perfect cup of coffee and connecting with customers? As a barista volunteer, you’ll:
- Master the Art of Coffee: Learn how to make everything from espressos to lattes, cappuccinos to flat whites. You’ll have the chance to experiment with different techniques and become a coffee expert!
- Engage with Customers: You’ll be the face of our coffee shop, greeting regulars and making new friends. Our customers are the best part of what we do, and you’ll have the chance to chat and build relationships with them while serving up their favourite cakes and drinks.
- Keep Things Running Smoothly: You’ll work alongside other volunteers to ensure the café is running smoothly, from cleaning equipment to managing the flow of orders.
No experience as a barista? Don’t worry – we’ll provide you with all the training you need to feel confident behind the counter!
Bake for a Cause
If you love baking and want to share your creations with the community, becoming a baker volunteer is the perfect role for you! As a baker volunteer, you’ll:
- Prepare Fresh Bakes: From cakes to cookies, cupcakes to pastries, you’ll help create the delicious treats that our customers can’t wait to enjoy.
- Work with a Team: You’ll join the baker WhatsApp group, where you can chat with fellow volunteers and keep everyone updated on your latest creations.
- Get Creative: Bring your own recipes and ideas – whether you have a signature bake or prefer to mix it up, it’s entirely up to you!
