About Me

"Hi, I'm Apollo! I'm 4 months old and a Golden Shepherd, which is a fancy way of saying I'm half Retriever, half German Shepherd. Fun fact: my family's surname is Shepherd too, so I think I was always meant to be theirs. I've only been part of the family for two months, but I've wasted no time making myself known... I say hello to everyone I meet. Though, not everyone loves quite that much energy coming at them, but I'm working on my manners in puppy training classes! At home I'm learning to be gentle with my 15-year-old deaf cat housemate, who's showing me the ropes with the patience of a saint (she's a rescue, and the real hero of our household). I'm also growing by the day, so who knows how big I'll be if you ever meet me! My family and I are regulars at St John's Coffee Shop, usually rolling in with human and doggo friends for the cakes and doggy treats. The volunteers there are absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to be back causing my usual happy chaos. Come find me and say hello, I promise I'm every bit as excitable as I sound!"

“After a good ride on my mountain bike, I often stop here for a refreshing drink and a well-earned snack. There’s something about sipping a lovely cup of tea while surrounded by nature that makes the experience so much better. The homemade cakes are absolutely delicious! Every time I’ve been, there’s a new treat to try, and they never disappoint. The friendly volunteers and cozy atmosphere make it a spot I keep coming back to. Highly recommend it!”

"I’ve traveled from Manchester more than once—either on a bike ride or a walk—just to visit this coffee shop. The cakes are amazing, easily some of the best I’ve had. Last time, I tried Kate’s marshmallow cake, and it was excellent. I always get a flat white, and it’s consistently great. The setup is simple but welcoming, and being outdoors just adds to the charm—perfect for a break in the fresh air, especially if you're partway through a bike ride or walk in the countryside. If you’re after good coffee and even better cakes, it’s well worth the trip. I’ll definitely be back."

"I always make sure to get Jackie’s lemon drizzle and a flat white coffee – they’re absolutely worth it! Delicious every time. The volunteers are lovely, and the place is always spotless. I can't rate it highly enough. I make a special drive just to visit, usually in the summer, and I come several times throughout the year. It's such a good cause, and I really hope others will support it too!"

Having visited St John’s Coffee Shop on many occasions I can highly recommend a visit. It's a friendly and welcoming place and dog friendly too. Delicious homemade cakes. Great value.

Stockport Community Cycling Club Cyclists
I just want to pass on a massive thank you to all your team at St John's Cafe from Stockport Community Cycling Club. Our riders thoroughly enjoyed visiting your cafe on Saturday. We received a warm welcome, and the drinks and cakes were exceptional. My wife who is gluten-intolerant was particularly impressed at having a choice of cakes. It was perfect! Following the ride we received some extremely positive feedback regarding both the cycle route and the visit to your cafe. It is a cycle ride we will certainly be repeating, and in turn another visit to your cafe!
