Scrum and Crumb: This Week’s Cakes Take the Field 🏉🍰

England’s Red Roses, the pride of women’s rugby, take on Samoa this weekend in the Rugby World Cup –a fixture the headlines are calling “mission impossible” for the Islanders. But while the action in Northampton will be all scrums, rucks, and tries galore, the real battle for glory is happening at our Coffee Shop cake table.

Here’s our matchday squad of bakes:

🍰 Bee’s Victoria Sponge – the safe pair of hands at fly-half: light, reliable, and guaranteed to score.
🍫 Diane’s Chocolate Cake – as powerful as a prop, smashing through any defence of willpower.
🍋 Jackie’s Lemon Drizzle – sharp, pacey, and guaranteed to keep you on your toes.
☕️ Jackie’s Coffee & Walnut Cake – strong, steady, and built for stamina.
🥕 Nicki’s Carrot Cake – often underestimated, but always puts in a Player of the Match performance.
🍒 Nicki’s Bakewell Loaf – a sweet surprise, full of flair and guaranteed to win the crowd.
🍰 Jane’s Lemon Victoria Sponge – zesty, classy, and ready to snatch the limelight like a star winger.
🍏 Sarah’s Dorset Apple Cake – hearty, homegrown, and the kind of classic that never lets the team down.
🌰 Sarah’s Almond Cookies – a super-sub arriving after 12pm, small but mighty, ready to make an instant impact.

Much like John Mitchell’s Red Roses, we’re rotating the squad this week –but whichever slice you pick, it’s world-class form all the way. England may be expected to run up the points against Samoa, but your appetite won’t stand a chance against this line-up.

So whether the Red Roses romp home or Samoa pull off the upset of the century, you’ll leave with the sweetest victory on the scoreboard: a slice (or two) of cake. 🍰☕️
