It’s that time of year again. The nights are drawing in, and Strictly Come Dancing is back for 2026. This Saturday evening, a brand-new presenting line-up and a fresh batch of celebrity contestants will be taking to the dance floor. So, naturally, we thought the best way to celebrate the return of one of our favourite shows was with cake.
Our own St John’s bakers have pulled together a selection so good, even the judges will raise their paddles:
🍋 Jackie’s Lemon Drizzle: Zingy, bright and full of personality. The kind of slice that would have Craig shouting fab-u-lous.
🥕 Judith’s Carrot & Ginger Muffins: Gently spiced and thoroughly comforting. An American smooth of a bake, from start to finish.
🍒 Nicki’s Cherry Bakewell Cake: A classic combination of cherries and almonds that deserves a perfect score for style.
🍫 Rebecca’s Sourdough Brownies: Rich, fudgy and unlikely to last long enough to make it through the first dance.
🍫 Carolyn’s Chocolate Cake: Deeply chocolatey with all the drama of a tango. Good luck stopping at one slice.
🍰 Sarah’s School Cake: A proper blast of nostalgia, minus the homework. Full marks for keeping things simple.
🍎 Andrea’s Dorset Apple Cake: A proper British classic, with enough charm to have the judges reaching for their scorecards.
🌾 Kate’s Fruity Flapjack (Dairy Free and No gluten ingredients): Chewy, fruity and full of oaty goodness. All the energy of a full-throttle jive.
So whether you’re limbering up for Strictly or just fancy a good Saturday morning treat, waltz on down to the coffee shop. Our baristas will be quickstepping between the counter and the coffee machine with cake slices at the ready! ☕🍰
