We love a weekend that brings the local community together, and this one has plenty going on!
The Bollington Walking Festival has been getting people out exploring our beautiful corner of Cheshire all week. There’s still time to enjoy a local wander before the festival wraps up on Sunday. And, of course, we think a good walk is an excellent excuse for cake afterwards!
On Sunday, Emergency Services Day takes over Bollington Recreation Ground, 11am–3pm, with emergency service crews and vehicles to explore. It’s a great chance to come along, enjoy the event, and show our support for the people who help keep our communities safe.
We’ll be doing our bit for the local community on Saturday morning, with our usual selection of homemade cakes and coffee at St John’s. And if you’re heading out later in the weekend, remember that our cakes are available to take away, so you can take a little piece of St John’s with you! 🍰
Here’s what’s on the cake table this week:
🍫 Judith’s Chocolate Chip Muffins: a first-time bake for us, so let’s give Judith a warm welcome to the cake table!
🍋 Jackie’s Lemon Drizzle: zingy, moist and always a favourite.
🥕 Nicki’s Carrot Cake: topped with a seriously generous layer of cream cheese icing.
🫚 Andrea’s Jamaican Ginger Cake: dark, sticky and warmly spiced.
🌾 Bee’s Victoria Sponge (no gluten containing ingredients): classic jam and buttercream, with no compromise on flavour.
🍰 Sarah’s School Cake: a nostalgic traybake that takes you straight back to school days.
