Say hello to Rory, our utterly irresistible Dog of the Month and the smallest big personality you’ll ever meet! This spirited 7-year-old Yorkshire/Norfolk Terrier cross has earned himself a very fitting nickname: the Pocket Rocket. Don’t let his compact size fool you, because this little lad has a heart, and a waggy tail, to rival any dog twice his size.
Rory’s story is one that will melt even the coldest of hearts. He came to a local RSPCA branch last April following the passing of his beloved owner. It only took one walk for his now-family to be completely and utterly smitten, and the rest, as they say, is history. He officially joined his new family in May 2025, and he hasn’t stopped smiling since.
On receiving the honour of St John’s Coffee Shop’s Dog of the Month, Rory had this to say: πΎ
“Hi, I’m Rory, but you might know me better as the Pocket Rocket. I may be small, but I make up for it in enthusiasm, charm, and an absolutely legendary waggy tail. Life hasn’t always been easy, but I hit the jackpot when my family fell in love with me on a walk and decided they simply couldn’t leave without me. Now every day is an adventure! My absolute favourite thing? People. I love meeting everyone, greeting everyone, and let’s be honest, hoping that everyone has a treat tucked away somewhere. Coffee shops are basically my happy place: so many lovely humans all in one spot, and if I play my cards right, someone always slips me something delicious. St John’s is a particular favourite of mine because the walk there is beautifully flat (these little legs have standards), and apparently the cakes and coffee are absolutely amazing, though I mostly care about the biscuits. Come and find me and I’ll be the one with the biggest smile on the gravel!”
Rory’s journey from the RSPCA kennels to beloved family member is a reminder of just how much love a rescue dog has to give.
We’ll see you soon, Rory. Keep that tail wagging! πΎ
