Saturday 18th April at St John’s Coffee Shop
This Saturday, Adlington has a very good excuse to celebrate. Thanks to the incredible efforts of the Stop Adlington New Town campaign, our town has been officially deprioritised as a new town location. While there’s still more work to do, it certainly feels like the perfect reason to put the kettle on and cut a generous slice of cake.
We’ll be open 10:30 – 13:30 at St John’s Coffee Shop with fresh barista coffee, plenty of homemade bakes, and lots of friendly faces, ideal for a catch-up, a natter, and to enjoy some well-earned good news together.
Here’s what’s waiting for you on our counter:
🥕 Nicki’s Carrot Cake
A warmly spiced classic with creamy frosting — the kind of cake that feels like a little celebration in every bite.
🍋 Jackie’s Lemon Drizzle: Bright, zesty, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face — even before your first sip of coffee.
🌰 Sarah’s Almond Cookies: Light, nutty, and very easy to “accidentally” have more than one of.
🍎 Carolyn’s Apple Cinnamon Cake: Soft, cosy, and full of flavour — like a proper sit-down and a good chat with friends.
🍰 Andrea’s Victoria Sandwich: Jam-filled, light, and always a favourite because some classics just can’t be beaten.
🍫 Rebecca’s Chocolate Guinness Cake: Rich, indulgent, and absolutely worth it, no explanations needed.
✨ Kate’s Non-Dairy, Gluten-Free Flapjacks: Golden, chewy, and made so everyone can join in. and trust us, you’ll want to.
If you fancy stretching the celebrations out a little longer, there’s also a community event taking place in the afternoon from 1pm at Gorsewood Farm (SK10 4NU), so you can quite happily make a full day of it, with cake in the morning, family fun and live entertainment in the afternoon.
However you spend your Saturday, it’s a lovely chance to celebrate Adlington, its people, and the community spirit that’s been bringing everyone together.
Pop in to St John’s, say hello, and treat yourself.
